Q & A

Cooking class experiences are brought to you through Zoom.

We use Zoom for our virtual classes, a free Web application, or “app”, which hosts group events and our virtual cooking classes. It is easy to use.

You’ll need to download the app to your device you intend to use prior to the class start time either on your phone, laptop, iPad, tablet of desktop.  An account is not required to take a class.  We recommend using a hands-free device so you can cook along with the chef and a device that is mobile so you can share your creations in real time with the chef. It is important to have a reliable internet connection for the Zoom class with the ability to stream video and audio.   This will make the class enjoyable for you.

How do I connect to the class?

You will receive the Zoom link, meeting ID number, and password.  This information will be email by the culinary architect soon after you have completed the registration and consultation for your curated event.  This information will be sent to you prior to start time, using the email address you provided when you registered; please utilize your email address that you monitor regularly and confirm you have received your preparation packet.

At your scheduled class time, refer to the email you received and click the Join Zoom Meeting link. When ready to join the class and to give your device access, select Join with Video and Join Audio in the bottom left corner of the Zoom screen.

To ensure you have a good connection, please join the class at least five minutes prior to the start time and you’ll be directed to the waiting room until the class starts. If you have trouble accessing the class, please reach out to Zoom support, as we’re unable to provide Zoom technical assistance.

What happens after I register?

Chef Russell Michel, the Culinary Architect, will personally contact you to set up the date, time and your preferences for your curated experience.  Payments are all handled via the website and is a secured location.  Once the class is set up, you will receive the menu for your event, all of the recipes that have been created for you, shopping and equipment lists, sequence of the class so you are fully prepared for your experience. Every class is different; some recipes or components may need to be prepared in advance of the class. This will be indicated in your preparation packet.  The classes are designed to utilize standard kitchen supplies that are in most kitchens.

Can others join me during the class?

Classes are priced per screen, not per person. Therefore, feel free to include family members and friends to join in on the fun.  It is the recommendation of Chef Russell Michel that children should always have adult supervision when joining a class.

How do I prep for class?

In you packet, the ingredients are listed by recipe along with the equipment needed for each recipe.  We advise you to gather your ingredients and supplies prior to the class start time and organize them by recipe for easy access during the class.  Pre-washing produce, weighing and/or measuring ingredients makes it easier to move along through your experience with simplicity and calm. Be sure to gather cooking utensils and equipment enabling a seamless cooking experience while you cook along with the chef.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

It is recommended that all dietary restrictions and allergens are communicated at the time of your consultation as the recipes and experience will be curated with these elements.

What if I cannot find or don’t have one of the ingredients?

You are welcome to communicate this in advance of the class or share this during the class.  The chef is pretty quick on his feet and can usually identify an alternative.

What is the cancellation policy?

All virtual class sales are final.  There are no refunds or credits.

Does the Culinary Architect record classes?

The Culinary Architect has the right to record all virtual cooking classes for future use on our website, social media platforms and to improve offerings. You may opt out of being recorded by turning off your camera during your class.  We are unable to provide class recordings to our clients.
